My recycled slippers came to be in 2006 when I
began making them for my own daughter.
I had so much fun sewing them, I decided to design a pattern that would
allow me to expand my sizes to meet the needs of my growing daughter and be
able to offer them to other cold little feet!
After such a wonderful response from other families, I decided to open an
online boutique
and so you have it
Polliwogs!!!
The majority of my slippers are made from recycled
wool
meaning they had a former life as a sweater, and are lined in recycled
fleece from pullovers, jackets and blankets. The
soles are constructed of
leather leftover by factories and upholstery shops, but are sometimes
made from Toughtek, which is wonderful non-slip, super durable fabric
perfect for slippers soles. Occasionally I offer all leather shoes or slippers made from
fleece and cotton.
I hope you enjoy these little shoes as much as I do!

Inside a Polliwog...see the nice fleece? Whether polyester or cotton fleece, this lining allows your baby to wear these slippers without socks and prevents any rubs on those little ankles!

View of elastic ankle. Each and every slipper or shoe is made with a fully elastic ankle. This allows for an easy on/easy off feature. If for some reason the elastic needs to be adjusted, it is easy to do!

Sole of a Polliwog. Most of the time I use leather for my soles purchased from a leather distributer. I buy the left-over scraps that otherwise would have found their way to the landfill.
